The first speaker is Academy Research Fellow, Daniela Ungureanu from Tampere University.
The title of her talk is:
MOLECULAR MECHANISM OF CHEMORESISTANCE IN OVARIAN CANCER
Daniela’s group is focusing on the role of Wnt-receptor pseudokinases (RORs, PTK7) in cancer development and chemoresistance. These pseudokinases contribute to the pathologies of several human diseases, most notably cancer, yet they remain largely unexplored as drug targets due to challenges associated with regulation of their biological functions. They are studying the functional mechanisms associated with ROR1/ROR2 expression alteration and tumorigenesis in hematological cancers and ovarian cancer. They are also interested in proteomics and HTP drug testing for functional studies of ex vivo patient samples. Their research is strongly supported by the close collaboration with clinicians at TAYS for patient samples collections and clinical studies, such in the case ovarian cancer.
