Our own cancer centers in Central Finland

Tays Cancer Centre (Tampere University Hospital Cancer Centre) is a high-standard cancer treatment, research and training center in the catchment area of Tampere University Hospital. It is formed by Tampere University Hospital and Tampere University. It treats over 15 000 cancer patients in a year and has a cancer research budget that exceeds 11 million euros/year. Research and competence of the personnel are an essential part of our cancer treatment and its continuous progress.

Tays Cancer Centre is a central part of our regional cancer center FICAN Mid. It is located in Central-Finland and covers the catchment area of Tampere University Hospital, the catchment area of Seinäjoki Central Hospital and the catchment area of Kanta-Häme Central Hospital (about a million inhabitants).

National Cancer Center Finland (FICAN): Five Finnish regional cancer centers and a Coordinating Cancer Center form the new, National Cancer Center Finland network, FICAN. The regional cancer centers are: FICAN Mid, FICAN South, FICAN West, FICAN East and FICAN North. Together they will work for the best, individual care of patients and to promote first-class cancer research in Finland, the outcome of which can be incorporated into patients’ treatment in the future.
